Opposition will make a common strategy to corner the central government
Delhi: All the parties of India Block are meeting at the Constitution Club of Delhi at 12 noon. In this meeting, the common strategy of the opposition to corner the central government will be discussed. Leaders of 22 parties including Congress, TMC, SP are attending the meeting. DMK and Aam Aadmi Party have distanced themselves from the alliance. Both parties have accused Congress of cheating.
The meeting being held at the Constitution Club is being attended by top leaders of 22 opposition parties including Congress’s Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress’ Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s Tejashwi Yadav and Shiv Sena (Ubhata)’s Uddhav Thackeray. Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Kalyan Banerjee, Tejashwi Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav have arrived to attend the meeting.
Top leaders of 22 parties will be included
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Sunday that 23 political parties have confirmed participation in the meeting of ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (India). Ramesh said that some political parties have expressed their inability to attend this special meeting due to their own reasons. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are unlikely to attend the meeting, while Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) is likely to attend as a new component of the alliance. However, TVK was not invited to this meeting. In such a situation, leaders of only 22 parties are attending the meeting. AAP has already publicly distanced itself from the alliance, while the DMK has announced its decision to boycott the meeting after the Congress severed ties with it in Tamil Nadu and joined the TVK-led government.

Official meeting of alliance being held after two years
The alliance will deliberate on the future strategy and try to present as a united front to take on the Modi government on national issues ahead of the upcoming state elections and the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. The recent defeat of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal has also forced the opposition alliance to come together to counter the growing influence of BJP in the country. Earlier, the official meeting of the ‘India’ alliance was held in June, 2024.
