Why is Kangana Ranaut wearing a nurse’s uniform? An issue raised before the release of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’

Actress who will be seen in the movie ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’ Kangana Ranauthas expressed his opinion about the uniform of nurses. According to her, the current uniform still has a British influence and should be given an Indian touch as per the preference and convenience of the nurses.

In an exclusive interview with ANI in Mumbai, Kangana Ranaut said that while doctors are given some flexibility in their professional attire as per the set guidelines, nurses still wear the same uniform, which she feels ‘looks British’.

Expressing her personal opinion, Kangana said, “I think the dress code of British nurses is still being used. Like doctors, our nurses are allowed to wear whatever they want; there is a rule for them. But our nurses, whether the weather is hot or cold, look a bit foreign. This is my personal opinion. But in this film, we have worked with honesty and respect. Body size is not important; your uniform is your duty.”

The actress further elaborated on the historical influence behind the current design of the uniform. She mentioned elements such as hats, pins and belts and said they have remained largely unchanged over time. She added, “But despite that, I personally think it’s a very British look. Pins, caps or belts on uniforms are an influence from the US Navy, as was the practice during the First and Second World Wars.”

Kangana also said that if the nurses feel the need for improvements, changes can be made in future according to their preferences and needs. Talking about giving an Indian touch to the uniform in the future, she said, “But currently there is no change, so you are right. In the future, if the uniform is given an Indian touch as per the preferences of the nurses and the reforms they find beneficial, it will be a good change.”
