WhatsApp multi-account feature expands on iPhone; 2 numbers on 1 device

New Delhi: WhatsApp has started rolling out its much-awaited multi-account feature for iPhone users, allowing people to manage two WhatsApp accounts on a single device. The feature is arriving with WhatsApp for iOS version 26.22.76 and is being released gradually to users worldwide.

The update eliminates the need for carrying two smartphones or using both WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business to manage separate accounts.

Easier Separation Between Work And Personal Chats

The new feature is aimed at users who maintain separate numbers for work and personal communication. With multi-account support, both accounts can now run within the same WhatsApp app while keeping chats, notifications, settings and privacy controls completely separate.

This makes account management more convenient and reduces the hassle of constantly switching devices or apps.

How To Add A Second WhatsApp Account

Users can add another WhatsApp account through the app’s account management section. They can either register a new mobile number or link an existing account using a QR code.

Once setup is complete, switching between accounts becomes seamless without repeated logins or verification steps.

Quick Account Switching Option Added

WhatsApp has also introduced a faster way to move between profiles. Users can long-press the “You” tab to instantly switch accounts. Tapping the section will normally display all linked accounts together.

The feature brings the iPhone experience closer to Android, where multi-account support has already been available for some time.

Rollout happening in phases

Since the rollout is happening gradually, many users may not see the feature immediately. WhatsApp has advised users to keep the app updated through the App Store to receive the feature once it becomes available for their device.
