Ship attacked near Hormuz, 24 Indian sailors stranded; pleaded for help

Desk: A large explosion has occurred in a suspected drone or missile attack on a commercial cargo ship about 15 nautical miles off the coast of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz. There was a massive explosion in the engine room of this ship flying the flag of Palau, which caused a fire and the ship started filling with water. Within no time the stability of the ship deteriorated and there was a danger of sinking. The sailors immediately issued distress calls (SOS) for help. There were at least 24 Indian sailors on board this ship, this has been confirmed by the Forward Seamen Union of India.




  • Some crew members were also harmed in this incident. According to sources, sailors reported water filling very fast. The ship’s lifeboats have also been damaged, making the rescue operation more difficult. This incident has happened at a time when regional tension in West Asia is already very high due to the Iran-Israel conflict.
