India steamroll Afghanistan and take only Test by an innings and 300 runs:

Read, Digital Desk : The Indian team played remarkably well against Afghanistan in the one-off Test match in their series. The two teams met in Mullanpur where India took home the game by an innings and 300 runs.

The Indian team performed well against Afghanistan in the only Test match in the multi-format series. The two teams met at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on 6th of June, where India managed to clinch the victory by an innings and 300 runs.

When the Indian team batted first on winning the toss and elected to bat, Yashasvi Jaiswal, batting in the 5th position went off early scoring 24 in 32 deliveries while KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan smashed 100 and 81 runs respectively, followed by an in-form Shubman Gill who made 126 runs. Also, Rishabh Pant scored 81 runs whereas Washington Sundar completed his fifty with 52 runs in 68 deliveries, before India finished their innings with 568 runs on the scoreboard and declared.

In the first innings, India’s bowlers wreaked havoc on Afghanistan’s batters who collapsed after the first Test of the series under the sustained bowling attack. Rahmat Shah scoring the highest with 60 runs off 135 deliveries was the top scorer of the visitors. While Manav Suthar took 6 wickets for the Indian team in the first innings, he was well assisted by Prasidh Krishna (3 wickets) and Washington Sundar (1 wicket) as India took a lead of 412 runs with the visitors bundled for 152 in their first innings.

Spin heavy attack propels India to stellar win

Bundling the opposition for 152 in the first innings and enforcing a follow-on after a lead of 412 runs, India restricted Afghanistan to 112 runs in the second innings thanks to the excellent performances of Kuldeep Yadav (4 wickets) and Washington Sundar (3 wickets), with Mohammed Siraj and Manav Suthar taking one wicket each as India registered an innings and 300 run victory within only 35.5 overs. They will be hoping that the team takes this momentum forward to their next ODI’s.
