Lakhs of pensioners of Bihar will get a big gift, 3 months’ amount at once.
Patna: Bihar government has approved 25 important proposals in the cabinet meeting to accelerate the development and public welfare of the state. These decisions will impact many areas like social security, rural employment, agriculture, urban infrastructure, technological development and education. In the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, many major decisions were taken giving special relief to the elderly, farmers and rural population.
Lakhs of beneficiaries will get financial assistance on time
The most important decisions of the Cabinet include huge financial sanction for the beneficiaries of social security pension schemes. The government has approved the release of advance of Rs 3,662.09 crore from Bihar Contingency Fund for payment of amounts for May, June and July 2026 under six social security schemes including old age, widow, disability and Chief Minister Old Age Pension. With this, lakhs of beneficiaries will be able to get financial assistance on time.
With the aim of promoting employment and self-employment in rural areas, the government has also approved ‘Developed India-Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural)’. This scheme will be implemented in entire Bihar from July 1, 2026. The government believes that this will increase employment opportunities in villages and improve people’s income.
Many important decisions were also taken on the urban development front. Under the Amrit 2.0 project, administrative approval has been given for schemes related to sewerage network, sewage treatment plant (STP) and drinking water supply in Biharsharif, Hajipur, Begusarai and Saharsa. These projects will help in improving the basic facilities in the cities.
Amendment in the scrapping policy of old vehicles was also approved by the Transport Department. Under this, some provisions have been changed to simplify the process of removing government and non-government vehicles older than 15 years.
To strengthen the agriculture sector, the state government has decided to re-implement the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana from the Rabi season of the financial year 2026-27. Apart from this, consent has also been given to make ‘Biscoman’ a state level nodal agency for export works.
Approval for construction of new hostel
To promote education and technological development, approval has been given for construction of new hostel under Research Park and Incubation Center Phase-2 in IIT Patna. Apart from this, an amount of more than Rs 5.75 crore has been approved for developing ‘BIHAR SNA-SPARSH’ software to make government financial transactions more transparent and easier. The government claims that these decisions will give new impetus to the development of the state and will directly benefit the common people.
