District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police conducted a surprise inspection of the District Jail, gave instructions for quick and quality disposal

On 11.06.2026, a joint surprise inspection of District Jail Gurma was conducted by District Magistrate Sonbhadra Charcha Gaur and Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma.

During the inspection, the security arrangements of the prison, residential arrangements of prisoners, quality of food, cleanliness, medical facilities, condition of barracks, kitchen, water supply, electrical system and records were thoroughly inspected by the officials. Besides, security related arrangements and sensitive places in the prison premises were also reviewed.

On this occasion, the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police established communication with the prisoners and obtained information about their problems, needs and complaints and necessary instructions were given to the concerned officers for their quick and quality disposal.

During the inspection, the cleanliness of the prison premises, disciplinary system and overall administrative functioning were reviewed. The prison administration was directed by the officials to ensure complete compliance with the basic facilities, health services and security standards provided to the prisoners.

After the joint inspection, necessary guidelines and corrective suggestions were provided to the jail administration to make the prison arrangements more strong, transparent and effective, so that better facilities can be provided to the prisoners and the security and administrative system of the prison can be further strengthened. Senior officers and prison staff of District Jail Gurma were present during the inspection.
