New IRCTC Website: An important announcement was made by Railways, Telecom and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav while interacting with students at Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur. Railways is constantly striving to improve digital services and providing seamless and fast service to passengers is a priority of the government, he said. During the program at MNIT, Ashwini Vaishnav used his mobile phone to show a video of the ‘Vande Bharat’ train on the TV screen and informed the students about the advanced features of the train and the design of the coaches. Also, he discussed the technological changes and digital innovations taking place in railways. On the occasion, the Union Minister announced the development of a state-of-the-art laboratory based on semiconductors, quantum technology and artificial intelligence (AI) at MNIT Jaipur. He inaugurated the ‘Maker’s Lab’ at the Vivekananda Lecture Theater Complex and encouraged students to progress in the field of new technologies.

Semiconductor manufacturing in India

While interacting with the students, he asked questions related to nano-SIM and semiconductor technology and mentioned that now nano-SIM is being manufactured in India. He urged the students to prepare themselves in this direction saying that semiconductor industry will become the biggest employment sector in future.

Minister’s challenge to students

Ashwini Vaishnav also challenged the students to undertake the work of ‘chip designing’. He said that the institute would develop a simulation system, which would enable students to get hands-on training in semiconductor design and fabrication. He further mentioned that similar initiatives are being implemented in 323 colleges across the country to promote semiconductor and chip design.
