Jennifer Lawrence Cast in New Comedy Movie from Backrooms Producers
Jennifer Lawrence is all set to star in a rom-com backed by the co-producers of Backrooms. She became attached to the project after its spec script sparked a bidding war among producers and studios. The Hunger Games actor will also produce the upcoming film, which has been acquired by Apple Original Films.
What new comedy movie has Jennifer Lawrence been cast in?
Jennifer Lawrence has been cast in One Month Mark, a romantic comedy written by Sophie Fleur de Bruijn. The project currently does not have a director attached to it, per The Hollywood Reporter.
De Bruijn’s breakthrough in feature films occurred last year when Apple Original Films acquired her spec script for Early Action, a comedy about parents who manufacture a traumatic experience for their son to improve his college admission essay. One Month Mark is her second outing with Apple.
One Month Mark is also Jennifer Lawrence’s fourth project with Apple. She recently wrapped What Happens at Night with Leonardo DiCaprio for Martin Scorsese, before which Lawrence starred and produced Causeway in 2022. She has also produced Bread & Roses, a film about women in Afghanistan under the Taliban, for the company.
David Ready and Peter Chernin of Chernin Entertainment are backing the film, One Month Mark. The company co-produced the hit film Backrooms alongside 21 Laps Entertainment, Atomic Monster, and Phobos. Chernin Entertainment is on a roll this year as a banner, having also released the Charlize Theron-starrer Apex and the Yahya Abdul-Mateen II-starrer Man on Fire, both on Netflix.
Jennifer Lawrence and her producing partner, Justine Ciarrocchi, will produce the film through Lawrence’s Excellent Cadaver banner, while De Bruijn will serve as an executive producer.
The logline of One Month Mark reads, “She has never made it past a month in a relationship. He has never gone longer than a month without one.”
A release date for One Month Mark has yet to be announced.
