K-pop band BigBang to perform in Hanoi during October world tour
The group’s management agency confirmed the schedule for its 20th-anniversary world tour on its official website on June 11. Hanoi is one of the tour stops, alongside other Southeast Asian countries Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.
The announcement was immediately welcomed by Vietnamese fans. Last year, the group’s leader, G-Dragon, held two concerts in Hung Yen, attracting nearly 100,000 people. This marks the second time a major K-pop group has staged a standalone concert at My Dinh Stadium. In 2023, Blackpink’s two-night concert at the venue drew more than 60,000 spectators and generated over VND300 billion (U.S$140,000) in revenue.

BigBang’s tour will feature three members: G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung. The trio recently reunited on stage at the Coachella music festival in April, kicking off a series of activities to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Band leader G-Dragon then unveiled the tour plans before tens of thousands of fans. But details about tour name, ticket prices, and sales dates have not yet been disclosed.
BigBang was once dubbed the “Kings of K-pop.” In 2020, it surpassed BTS and Blackpink to be voted the Greatest K-pop Artist of the 2010 – 2019 decade by fans.
The group debuted in 2006 with five members: Seungri, G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesung. They were known for their hip-hop and R&B sounds and, according to critics and fans, singing ability, teamwork, songwriting skills, polished choreography. The group won a number of “Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and “Album of the Year” awards at major Asian music ceremonies.
In the early 2010s, the group’s success extended to the U.S. market. In 2015, BigBang released the album “Made,” which achieved global success. Everything changed in 2018 when its members began enlisting for mandatory military service.
The last release featuring all five members was the 2018 single “Flower Road.” Despite four years of limited group activities,BigBang’s influence remained strong, with the members continuing to attract attention in fields such as fashion.
When the group returned in 2022, it had been reduced to four members, as Seungri was no longer active after receiving a three-year prison sentence in August 2021 on charges related to the Burning Sun scandal, which involved prostitution mediation and illegal gambling. In 2023, T.O.P said he too was quitting the group.
In 2024, BigBang sparked widespread excitement when the remaining three members reunited at the MAMA Awards (Mnet Asian Music Awards), one of South Korea’s most prestigious K-pop awards ceremonies.
