Fir Against Mamata Over Inflammatory Remarks
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s troubles have increased and an FIR has been lodged against her at Hare Street police station in Kolkata. He has been accused of allegedly making statements that were inflammatory and created communal tension during an election campaign rally. This action has been taken on the basis of a written complaint.
Tushar Kanti Das, a resident of Sowalya of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road area of Kolkata, has filed this complaint against Mamata Banerjee. According to the complaint, during the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election campaign, Mamata Banerjee had appealed to the people in a public meeting to beware of the alleged misleading propaganda of the BJP. However, she did not clarify what kind of promotion she was referring to.
The complaint claims that the statement made during the meeting prima facie appears to be provocative, inflammatory and disturbing communal harmony. According to the complainant, such statements may create fear, hatred, misunderstanding and tension between different communities. Also, the feeling of insecurity among ordinary citizens may increase, which may have an adverse impact on the peace, social unity and democratic environment of the state.
The complaint further mentions that there have been some incidents of communal violence in Kolkata and various districts of West Bengal after the elections, and it cannot be ruled out that they may have been influenced or related to Mamata Banerjee’s speech.
Tushar Kanti Das has handed over the video clip of the concerned meeting in a pen drive to the police. He has demanded that the police should take immediate cognizance of this matter, examine the video and other electronic evidence, conduct a fair and thorough investigation and if proven guilty, take appropriate action as per law. The complainant has also said that if such statements were made during the election campaign, it should also be investigated under the provisions of election rules and model code of conduct.
