Anya Taylor-Joy’s Star-Packed Action Thriller Show Is Very Close To Releasing

An upcoming Apple TV miniseries starring Anya Taylor-Joy is swiftly approaching its release date. Arriving next month, it blends high-stakes action with a complex yet gripping narrative.

Lucky hits Apple TV next month

Lucky, featuring Anya Taylor-Joy in the titular role, premieres its first two episodes on Apple TV on July 15, 2026. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly until August 19.

Production on the crime thriller reportedly began in Las Vegas in February 2025 (via Deadline). Filming, which also took place in Los Angeles, wrapped by July. It is based on Marissa Stapley’s 2021 novel of the same name. The book became both a New York Times bestseller and a Reese’s Book Club pick.

The show marks a reunion between Anya Taylor-Joy and the streamer, with both having previously worked together on The Gorge, which co-starred Miles Teller.

Apple has reportedly stated that the show is similar to The Flight Attendant, Dead to Me, Russian Doll, Killing Eve, Inventing Anna, Black Doves, and Lioness (via MovieWeb). In the story, a reformed criminal returns to her old ways to confront a new predicament so she can truly escape her past.

“When a multimillion-dollar heist goes sideways, con artist Lucky is forced to go on the run,” the official synopsis reads. “Pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, Lucky must fight for her life — and a way out.”

Jonathan Tropper, who has an overall deal with Apple TV, created the series and also serves as co-showrunner alongside Cassie Pappas. Additionally, he executive-produced through this banner, Tropper Ink. Other executive producers include Pappas, Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter, Taylor-Joy (LadyKiller), and pilot director Jonathan van Tulleken. Greg Yaitanes and Jet Wilkinson also directed episodes of the series.

In addition to Anya Taylor-Joy as Lucky Armstrong, the series will star Annette Bening as Priscilla Matheson, Timothy Olyphant as John Armstrong, and Aunjanue-Ellis Taylor as Agent Billie Rand. Furthermore, the supporting cast includes Mo McRae, Clifton Collins Jr., William Fichtner, and Drew Starkey.
