Bangladesh cricket team announced for Sri Lanka tour Gujarati

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. This series will kick off Bangladesh’s 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. This journey will start from June 17 in Galle. Bangladesh is touring Sri Lanka after four years, in which two Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is will be played. Nazmul Hussain Shanto will continue to lead the Test team in this 1 month long tour. Shanto, the 25-year-old top-order batsman, impressed with his leadership and consistent performances in the last WTC cycle, where Bangladesh finished seventh.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das was out of the last series due to injury, now he is making a comeback in the team. Recently, he led the team during the T20 series in Pakistan. Along with Liton, fast bowler Ibadot Hussain, who was out of international cricket since July 2023, has also returned to the team. Apart from this, arm spinner Hasan Murad and right arm fast bowler Nahid Rana have also been included in the team.

Three players included in the squad for the recent Zimbabwe series have been dropped. It includes spinner Tanvir Islam, fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Shakib and opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy. Bangladesh team is expected to reach Sri Lanka on June 13. The first Test will be played in Galle from June 17 and the second Test will be played at the Colombo Singale Sports Club ground from June 25. After this, a series of three ODIs (2, 5 and 8 July) and three T20 matches will be played, which will end on 10, 13 and 16 July respectively.
