There is a stir in the world behind nuclear weapons: 119 billion dollars lost in a single year Gujarati

Washington, June 9, 2026: Amidst the ongoing geo-political tension in the world, a shocking revelation has come to light that powerful countries like India, China, Pakistan and America are spending billions of dollars on nuclear weapons. According to a recent report by a non-profit organization, currently only nine countries in the world have nuclear weapons. These countries have spent a total of $119 billion during the year 2025 on the maintenance, modernization and new research of their nuclear weapons. During this period, Asian countries like India and China not only increased their expenditure but also developed new nuclear weapons. In the last one year, 20 new nuclear weapons have been added to China’s nuclear arsenal and 10 new nuclear weapons have been added to India’s arsenal.

Statistics from the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, an organization working to eliminate nuclear weapons, show that America leads the world in nuclear budget with a staggering expenditure of $69.2 billion. Whereas China is spending 13.5 billion dollars, India 2.8 billion dollars and Pakistan 1.5 billion dollars to increase nuclear capacity. On the other hand, North Korea, which is facing economic crisis, is also spending 656 million dollars on maintaining its nuclear weapons.

It is also mentioned in this report that America has increased its nuclear budget by a record 22 percent. Britain has also spent 1.6 billion dollars in the year 2025 with an increase of 17 percent, while China has increased its budget by 7 percent and Russia has spent 9 billion dollars by 6 percent. Talking about the regional balance of South Asia, India has increased its nuclear expenditure by 12 percent and Pakistan by 18 percent, while France has increased its budget by 8 percent and Israel by 2 percent.

  • Total 12187 nuclear weapons in the world

On one hand, the powerful countries of the world are spending money like water on destructive weapons, while on the other hand, 99 peace-loving countries have signed the ‘Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons’. These countries clearly believe that to save the existence of mankind, it is essential to bring about a permanent end to the nuclear threat from the entire world. However, the actual situation appears to be quite the opposite. According to the latest report of January 2026 by ‘Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’, an organization that monitors military activities around the world, there are currently a total of 12187 nuclear weapons present in the world. Out of this total quantity, about 9745 nuclear weapons are kept ready in the military stores for possible use, out of which 4012 weapons are in ready position to be fired at any time with missiles and fighter planes.

Analyzing how many nuclear weapons each country has globally, SIPRI has said that Russia is currently the world’s largest nuclear superpower with 5500 nuclear weapons. After Russia, America comes second which has a convoy of about 5300 nuclear weapons. China is also increasing its power very fast and there is a strong possibility that it currently has 620 nuclear weapons. If compared with the two traditional rival countries of South Asia, India’s nuclear weapons stock has now increased to 190, which is more than Pakistan’s stockpile of 170 nuclear weapons. These figures make it clear that amidst the claims of peace at the global level, terrible preparations for the Third World War are going on inside.
