Weather Update: Monsoon has arrived in 16 states of the country; Rains will start in North India from June 11
New Delhi : From last few days there is a drastic change in the atmosphere. After a brief break, the Southwest Monsoon has picked up speed. Since entering Kerala on 4th June Monsoon Reached 16 States and Union Territories. Monsoon is likely to reach North Bengal in the next three to four days. This is causing heavy rains in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The influence of westerly winds is likely to intensify over the western Himalayan region from June 11, which may bring rain over parts of northwest India including Delhi-NCR and parts of east India including Bihar. Currently, the temperature in North India has once again gone above 45 degrees Celsius. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Southwest Monsoon has now reached all the seven northeastern states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Assam.

Conditions are favorable for rain to reach parts of northwest Bay of Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, along with rest of the northeastern states and parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim during the next three days.
In the last 24 hours, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and isolated places over Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya recorded 12-20 cm rainfall. Also Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe as well as coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema and Telangana recorded rainfall of 7-11 cm at isolated places.
Intense heat and humidity in North India
North India is experiencing intense heat. Sriganganagar in Rajasthan reached 45.6 degrees Celsius. Sriganganagar was the hottest place in the country on Monday. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius. Fatehgarh in eastern Uttar Pradesh recorded 44.8 degrees Celsius and Varanasi 43.6 degrees Celsius.
Rohtak in Haryana was the hottest
Rohtak in Haryana was the hottest place in the state with a temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius. Patiala in Punjab recorded 42.6 degrees Celsius and Daltonganj in Jharkhand recorded 43.1 degrees Celsius.
