Want tickets from ASP? 20 minutes time, 25 questions, Chandrashekhar Azad will take interview.
It is common to give an interview to get a job, but in Uttar Pradesh, candidates are being interviewed to get a ticket for the assembly elections. Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) national president and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad is interviewing ticket contenders for the upcoming assembly elections. This process going on in Lucknow’s VVIP Guest House remains a topic of discussion in political circles.
The party has scheduled the interview of ticket contenders from June 13 to June 18. On the first day, candidates from Saharanpur, Meerut and Moradabad divisions reached Lucknow. Here Chandrashekhar Azad interacted directly with the candidates and examined their political experience, regional hold and election preparations.
25 questions being asked in 20 minutes
Talks are being held with ticket claimants for about 20 minutes. During this, questions are being asked on topics like caste equation, identity in the area, social work, activism in the organization, booth level preparation and strategy to win the elections. The party leadership says that this will help in assessing the real capability of the candidates.

Candidates told their interview experience
Nihal Singh, who came from Bijnor, told that he is preparing to contest elections from Sadar Assembly seat. He said that the workers are united under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Azad and a wave of change is visible in the state. Kamal Gautam, who came from Muzaffarnagar, said that all the potential candidates are being called and their preparations and plans are being understood. He said that the National President himself is meeting the candidates and listening to them, after which further strategy will be decided.
Questions on vote bank and caste equation also
Naresh Kumar Gautam, who came from Rampur for interview, told that Chandrashekhar Azad talked to him for about 20 minutes. During this, questions were asked on the total number of voters in the area, caste equation and strategy to strengthen the party. Pradeep Kumar, who came from Milak assembly seat of Rampur, said that Chandrashekhar Azad is an inspiration for the youth. He told that during the interview he was asked about the purpose of coming into politics and his thinking for the Bahujan community.

Selection will be based on organizational ability
Party’s national president Sunil Chittor said that the purpose of conducting direct interviews of ticket claimants is to assess their organizational capacity, mass base and electoral understanding. He said that the interview of candidates from Saharanpur, Meerut and Moradabad divisions was held on June 13, while the candidates from Bareilly, Agra and Aligarh divisions were called on June 14. After this, there will be an interview of the candidates of Lucknow, Ayodhya and Devipatan divisions on June 15.
New process of ticket selection becomes a topic of discussion
Ticket distribution in political parties is usually decided at the level of organization and leadership, but formal interview of candidates by Azad Samaj Party remains a topic of discussion. The party claims that this process will give opportunity to strong and active candidates at the grassroots level.
