Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s ancestor Hindu! This is the story from Gujarat to Karachi

Year 1947.. India got independence from the colonial rulers i.e. British. To get this freedom, many freedom fighters sacrificed their lives, many agitations, movements and battles were fought. Many people who loved their country sacrificed their whole lives for this country and for the freedom of the country. Then the two and a half hundred years of exile ended and India became independent and became the sovereign Republic of India.

But this independence came with many big problems, the biggest problem being the partition of India and Pakistan. It is true that the British Raj came to an end but their policy of divide and rule had an adverse effect on the entire Indian subcontinent. In 1947 independent India and independent Pakistan were created. With the consensus of the Muslim League, a separate nation for the Muslim people i.e. Pakistan was demanded. And luckily or unluckily it was done. The main face of this demand for an independent Pakistan was ‘Mohammed Ali Jinnah’ who is also known as ‘Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’, the founder of Pakistan. Who was Mohammad Ali Jinnah who created the independent nation of Pakistan separate from British India? Who were their ancestors? Where exactly was his family from? Let’s find out here today,

Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s grandfather lived in the village ‘Paneli Moti’ in Rajkot, Gujarat. His name was Punjabhai Thakkar. Punjabhai Thakkar i.e. Ali Jin’s grandfather belonged to Lohana Thakkar, a Hindu Raghuvansi caste. Even today, his old house is famous as Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s house in Paneli village. Punjabai’s family belonged to the business sector, so he started a fishing-selling business at that time. Punjabhai’s business of selling these fish met with a lot of opposition from his caste people. As the Lohana Thakkar community of Paneli village was a bit backward at that time, Punjabhai was thrown out of their community. As they were outcasted, Punjabhai converted to Islam. He accepted himself in the ‘Shia Khoja’ Muslim community. It is said that he again regretted this, he wanted to become a Hindu again but could not. Punjabhai had four children in total. Three sons Valjibhai, Nathubhai and Jenabhai and a daughter named Manbai. Punjabhai stayed with his four children in Paneli Moti village till the end.

But their youngest son, Jenabhai, went to neighboring Gondal for business. And then he settled in Karachi in today’s Pakistan with his wife Mithibai. In 1876, Mithi gave birth to a son, who went on to become the ‘main face of independent Pakistan’ i.e. ‘Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’. Thus it is clear that Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s ancestors were from a village in Rajkot, Gujarat and belonged to the Hindu Raghuvansi caste.
