Launch of Phase-4 of Project ‘DROP’ by Kia India; A new momentum for sustainable development and plastic waste management
Mumbai, June 14, 2026: Kia India, the country’s leading mass-premium car manufacturer, has taken another step towards its long-term commitment towards sustainable development and a responsible role towards the environment. The company in association with Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) today announced Phase-4 of Project DROP (Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastics) for the National Capital Region of Delhi at the NDMC Convention Center at Connaught Place, New Delhi.
Project DROP under this Phase-IV plans to facilitate responsible management of plastic waste at 250 centers in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad, thereby strengthening the initiative’s contribution to creating a cleaner and more sustainable urban ecosystem.

As part of the launch of Phase-4, Kia India and its partners have launched a special DROP made using recycled plastic waste. Community Beans (garbage bins) unveiled. The collection vehicle was flagged off, symbolizing the implementation of a systematic and integrated waste collection system to strengthen segregation, collection and responsible disposal of plastic waste in New Delhi.

Kia India launched Project DROP in five cities in 2023. had started and met its target of collecting 2,500 tonnes of plastic waste from 500 centres. In 2024, the initiative was expanded to 789 centers and collected 4,850 tonnes of waste, surpassing the target of 3,500 tonnes. In 2025, the initiative was expanded to eight cities including Chandigarh, Panchkula and Zirakpur, managing a total of over 14,560 metric tonnes of plastic waste from 1,100 centres, and positively impacting over 36 lakh people. Now in its fourth phase, Project D.R.O.P. is being expanded to 11 cities, including 1,350 centers and the waste collection target has been increased to 9,200 tonnes.
