In 1946, the FIA announced the “Formula One” regulations, and after years of preparation, the first official Formula 1 World Championship race in history was held. Dated 13 May 1950… Silverstone Airfield, England. The world’s first F1 Grand Prix was held here, which was used as a military airport during World War II. The event was attended by King George VI of Britain, Queen Elizabeth and many members of the royal family.

Alfa Romeo team dominated in this historic race. Giuseppe Farina, a famous Italian driver of the time, won the race in his Alfa Romeo 158 car, beating his rivals. Interestingly, this same Farina went on to win the first Formula 1 World Championship in history.
