Telegram banned in the country before NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam, you will not be able to access
New Delhi: Just before the conduct of the country’s biggest medical entrance examination ‘NEET’, the Central Government and the IT Ministry have taken a big and tough decision. To prevent rumors of any irregularities, privacy breach or paper leak in the examination, Telegram services have been temporarily banned across the country. After this ban, users in most parts of the country are not able to access the Telegram app and its website.
Major decision taken on input of security agencies
According to sources, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and intelligence departments had received inputs that some anti-social elements may try to influence the sanctity of the examination through Telegram groups and channels. During some examinations held in the past, cases of alleged paper leak and selling of fake question papers had come to light on Telegram. Keeping this in mind, the government issued an order to block this platform even before the examination as a precautionary measure.
Students and users are not able to access
As soon as this order came into force, the country’s major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and telecom companies have blocked Telegram’s servers. Since morning, neither messages are being delivered nor any media files are being downloaded in the phones of crores of users. There is a mixed reaction regarding this decision among the students appearing in the examination.
Maintaining the sanctity of the exam is a priority
Administrative officials say that the first priority of the government is to conduct a sensitive and important examination like NEET in a completely transparent and fair manner. This restriction on Telegram may continue until the examination process is completed. Along with this, security agencies are also keeping a close watch on other social media platforms.
