Donald Trump becomes fan of PM Modi in G-7! Expressed confidence in leadership

New Delhi: During the ongoing G-7 summit in France, US President Donald Trump once again praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi openly. During a working lunch with world leaders, Trump described Modi as “cool, cool and awesome” i.e. a total killer.

He made this comment in a lighthearted manner during the outreach session. Comparing his personality and Modi’s, Trump said, “Unlike PM Modi, who is calm, cool and awesome… I am not like that. Look at him.”

Trump has confidence in Modi’s leadership

This is not the first time that Trump has praised Modi. He has many times talked about Modi’s leadership style and staying in power for a long time. Earlier this month, he had congratulated Modi on serving as India’s longest-serving Prime Minister.

At that time, Trump had described Modi as a “strong, healthy and wise man” and said that he was confident that Modi would successfully lead the country in the coming years. Trump’s tone remained the same in G-7 also.

Both the leaders met face to face after 16 months

This meeting in Evian, France was the first face-to-face meeting of Modi and Trump in more than 16 months. The two leaders shook hands warmly and also talked for a while.

When leaders from around the world gathered at an outreach session organized by French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi and Trump were seen sitting together. In the pictures, Modi was seen smilingly welcoming Trump.

These issues will be discussed in the bilateral meeting

According to sources, Modi and Trump will also hold a separate bilateral meeting soon. In this, the focus will be on strengthening bilateral relations and increasing cooperation in important areas.

Concerns over regional security, especially the situation in West Asia and the Strait of Hormuz, will be a major part of the discussion. There is also a possibility of discussion on ways to increase cooperation in the energy sector.

This meeting is taking place at a time when India and America are trying to strengthen their strategic partnership and also resolve trade related differences. Recent tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have made energy security more important for both countries. This chemistry between Modi and Trump at the G-7 summit is once again showing the importance of India-US relations.
