Swearing in program was organized in the offices of all the departments of the district

As per the instructions of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of India and the Directorate of Social Security, Bihar, Patna, on the occasion of “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on 26th June, “Drug Free Week” is being organized in West Champaran district from 17th June to 26th June 2026.

Senior Deputy Collector-cum-In-charge Officer, District Social Security Cell, Vikas Kumar said that this year the theme of the campaign has been set as “Drug Free India Campaign – Identity of Developed India”. Under the campaign, extensive public awareness programs will be organized in the district in coordination with various departments, so that the society can be made aware of the ill effects of drugs and motivated for a drug-free life.

He said that on June 17, the first day of the campaign, a swearing-in program was organized in the offices of all the departments of the district. During this, officers and personnel took oath to create a drug-free society, stay away from drugs and make others aware about it.

He said that as per the scheduled program, oath taking program will be organized in all the Buniyad centers and homes on June 18. On June 19 and 20, the general public will be made aware through street plays, publicity and signature campaigns at Collectorate premises, Bettiah Railway Station and other major public places. On the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21st June, Drug Free India campaign will be promoted along with yoga practice at Khel Bhawan.

In this sequence, on June 22, an oath taking program will be organized at all Anganwadi centers with maids, assistants, ward members, Asha workers and villagers. On June 23, public awareness programs will be organized in all the block headquarters with the help of Jeevika Didis and Jeevika groups. On June 24, quiz, essay writing and painting competitions will be organized in government schools of Bettiah city area. The campaign will conclude on June 26 with the organization of a district level mega program and workshop at the Collectorate Auditorium, West Champaran.

He has appealed to the general public to participate enthusiastically in the campaign and ensure their active participation in spreading the message of “Drug Free India Campaign – Identity of Developed India” to the people.
