The hall echoed as soon as he said ‘It’s Signed’! Clouds of tension stopped after 4 months of war, Trump and Pejeshkian signed MoU

New Delhi: After several months of tension and conflict, America and Iran have taken a big step towards normalizing relations. US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian have formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries. As soon as this agreement is implemented, it is expected that the nearly four months old conflict between the two countries will end.

Official signing of the agreement

According to American and Iranian officials, the Presidents of both the countries signed the MoU on Wednesday. It has been told that this agreement has come into effect with immediate effect. According to US officials, President Trump also signed a hard copy of the agreement during an event held at the Palace of Versailles in France.

After this, copies of the document were sent to Iran and the mediator countries. Earlier on Sunday, US Vice President JD Vance and Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf had electronically signed this document.

Plan for talks in Geneva remains intact

The agreement has been signed, but the proposed meeting of the delegations of both the countries in Geneva is still considered fixed. Iranian officials say that the purpose of this meeting will not be to sign new ones, but to discuss the implementation of the agreement and the further process.

According to sources, the final decision can be taken in the next few hours whether this meeting will take place or not. Since the document has already been digitally and formally signed, there is no need for a separate signing ceremony.

Expectation of relief in oil exports and restrictions

Iran has demanded removal of obstacles on its oil exports under the agreement. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said the country should be allowed to sell oil without transportation and insurance restrictions.

Along with this, America has also assured to make access to Iran’s frozen assets easier. If this process is successful, Iran will be able to directly receive income from its oil sales.

Next 60 days will be important

As per the agreement between the two countries, restraint will be maintained for the next 60 days. During this period, no political, economic or military steps will be taken which would affect the implementation of the agreement.

This agreement is currently an initial framework. The talks over the coming two months will decide whether this initiative results in lasting peace and a comprehensive agreement.
