India got a big relief as soon as Hormuz opened! LPG shortage ended, backlog reduced to 3 days; But will petrol and diesel be cheaper?

Hormuz Reopens LPG Backlog Drops: There has been a news of great relief for India after the tension between Iran and America reduced and the way for a peace agreement was opened. With this, the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil routes, has also reopened. India has got direct benefit from this. The Central Government has said that the supply of petrol, diesel, LPG and natural gas in the country has now become completely normal. The backlog of LPG has also reduced to just 3.1 days. This means that now people will not have any problem in getting gas cylinders.

Will petrol, diesel and gas cylinders become cheaper now?

After the supply becomes normal, the biggest question in the minds of people is whether the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG will reduce now? At present this does not seem to be happening. The government says that oil prices are still fluctuating in the international market, hence it is not easy to take any immediate decision on prices.

Losses of oil companies still continue

According to the Petroleum Ministry, oil companies are still facing losses. There is an under-recovery of about Rs 700 on each LPG cylinder. This means that companies are getting less money than what they are spending. Apart from this, there is also a loss of about Rs 27 per liter on diesel and Rs 3 per liter on petrol. In such a situation, there is little hope of getting relief in prices at present.

Why is India dependent on the global market?

India buys a major part of its needs from abroad. The country imports about 85 percent crude oil, 50 percent LNG and 60 percent LPG. Many of these supplies come from Middle East countries and the Strait of Hormuz is considered a very important route for this.

Difficulties increased during the war

The global supply of oil and gas was affected due to the war that started in the Middle East on 28 February 2026. The situation remained challenging for about 108 days. During this period, India fulfilled its needs by purchasing oil and gas from other countries. Due to the efforts of the government and oil companies, fuel supply in the country remained stable and now the situation has become completely normal.
