The Central Government has finally given its approval on the interest rate to be given to the members of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) for the financial year 2025-26. The government has approved 8.25 percent interest rate on EPF deposits. After this, now the interest amount is expected to be deposited in the accounts of more than 7 crore EPF account holders this month. This decision has brought relief to those employees who were waiting for interest to be deposited in their PF account for a long time. The interest received on EPF plays an important role in strengthening the retirement savings of employees.

8.25% interest rate approved
According to sources, the Finance Ministry has approved the proposal of EPFO. Earlier, in the meeting of the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) held under the chairmanship of Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on March 2, 2026, the interest rate was fixed at 8.25 percent for the financial year 2025-26. After getting the approval from the government, EPFO ​​will now start the process of transferring the interest amount to the accounts of crores of its members.

Interest will come in accounts this month
Sources associated with EPFO ​​say that the interest amount can be deposited in the accounts only in the month of June. This time EPFO ​​has further strengthened its digital system, making the process of crediting interest faster and more transparent than before. Once the interest is deposited, members will be able to see its information in their PF passbook.

Interest rate did not change for the third consecutive year
It is worth noting that EPFO ​​has maintained the interest rate at 8.25 percent for the third consecutive year. The interest rate in 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 will be 8.25%. Earlier, the interest rate in 2022-23 was 8.15 percent.
