Not just paper leaks, Telegram has become a den of many wrongdoings, understand how
After the NEET paper leak, NEET exam will be held again in India on 21st June. The government is making complete security arrangements for this examination. Every possible effort is being made to ensure that the paper does not leak. In this sequence, the Government of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (IT) banned the Telegram app for a few days, so that the paper does not get leaked. The government is considering Telegram as a medium for paper leaks and even before this, Telegram has come under question many times.
Telegram works like a messaging app. It is similar to WhatsApp but some of its features are different from it. In this, millions of people can connect with each other through groups and share content. Content is shared on Telegram in the form of videos, photos and files. Telegram is used for everything from children’s study notes, video classes to talking to a person.

Why are questions being raised on Telegram?
Many reports have revealed that Telegram is used to share such content which cannot be shared on any other platform. This includes everything from obscene videos to copyrighted films, videos, photos and papers. There are hundreds of groups on Telegram in which many films are uploaded as soon as they are released. Along with this, banned video content also reaches people through Telegram. There is no copyright issue on this one either.
Things go viral on groups
The biggest strength of Telegram is considered to be the same feature which also brings it into the most controversies. Here a large number of people can connect together through channels and groups. An administrator can deliver files, videos, PDFs and links to thousands or even millions of people in a matter of minutes. This is the reason why many times networks of selling examination material, sharing alleged leaks, running fake investment schemes and distributing copyrighted content spread rapidly here.
Violation of copyright
Not only is restricted content shared through Telegram, content created through someone’s hard work is also shared without copyright. In March this year, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a notice to Telegram asking it to remove content from more than 3,000 channels. The government said that copyrighted content was available on more than 300 channels. The ministry had directed Telegram to remove pirated content under the Information and Technology Act, 2000. Many OTT platforms keep complaining against Telegram.

became a den of wrongdoing
All the work is done through Telegram which cannot be done on other social media or content sharing platforms. There are strict guidelines regarding sharing of content on platforms like YouTube and Facebook and if these guidelines are not followed, YouTube bans sharing and sometimes even kills the channel itself. Copyright strike is given for copying someone’s content but there is no such rule on Telegram and if there is, it is not followed. In today’s time, Telegram has become a den of all wrongdoings.
- Sharing pirated content, stealing movies and copyrighted content.
- Data Leaks and Chatbot Networks
- Den of cyber crime, fake tools, malware, pirated software
- Fraud through fake jobs and various investment groups
- Lack of content moderation system
