EPF Interest Update: The government has approved 8.25 per cent interest rate on Employee Provident Fund (EPF) deposits for 2025-26, which is likely to be credited to the accounts of more than seven crore contributing members this month, a source said on Thursday. EPFO gives interest rates on EPF after getting approval from the government through the Finance Ministry.

Government approved 8.25% interest

The proposal of 8.25% interest rate was sent to the Central Government by the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) of the Employees Provident Fund Organization Employee Provident Fund (EPF), which has now received formal approval. After this, the Ministry has issued instructions to credit the interest amount in the accounts. This decision was taken in the CBT meeting held on March 2, 2026 under the chairmanship of Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the official notification of which has now also been issued, which has brought relief to crores of account holders.

This rate was kept for the third consecutive time

Earlier on March 2, 2026, in a meeting chaired by Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the CBT had decided to fix the interest rate at 8.25 percent for the financial year 2025-26, this is the third consecutive year when this rate has been maintained. After this the proposal was sent to the Finance Ministry for approval because the guarantor of EPF is the Government of India.

Click on “E-Passbook”.
Submit by entering UAN number, password and captcha.
Your PF details and balance will be visible on the screen.
You can also check the balance in E-Passbook by selecting member ID.

Check balance by missed call

Give a missed call to 011-22901406 from the registered mobile number.
Balance will be received within some time through SMS.

Check balance through SMS:

From the registered number, write “EPFOHO UAN” and send it to 7738299899.
If you want information in Hindi then write “EPFOHO UAN HIN”.
