Big announcement by Kerala CM VD Satheesan, ‘Mineral Corridor’ will be built at a cost of Rs 50 thousand crores

A big announcement has been made by Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan. Yes, Mineral Corridor will be built in Kerala. According to CM Satheesan, the cost of this corridor will be around Rs 50 thousand crore. Let us tell you that rare earth minerals are found in Kerala, which is known as God’s Own Country. This is the reason why the Mineral Corridor has been approved in the joint budget of both the Central and State Governments. An announcement has been made by the Chief Minister regarding this project.

What is the purpose of this corridor?

The main objective of the Mineral Corridor Project being launched by the government is to integrate mining, processing and manufacturing of rare earth minerals in a single area. Also, the benefits of these rare minerals have to be extended to as many people as possible.

Where and what is the route of this corridor?

According to the information received, this corridor will be built in the coastal areas of Kerala. A special corridor will be prepared to utilize the minerals present in these areas. If we talk about these areas or the belt, then it will be established in Vizhinjam which is also an international port. Along with this, it will be established in many areas of Chavara (Kollam) and Kochi city. The special thing is that all these areas will be connected through corridors.

Let us tell you that a special center is also being built near Kerala Mineral and Metals Limited in Chavara. Which can also be an important center of Mineral Corridor in the future.

Which rare minerals are found in Kerala?

Many types of rare minerals are available in Kerala. These mainly include thorium and scandium. Apart from this, reserves of other rare minerals are present in this state.

This project was named Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Scheme. The objective of the Indian government behind bringing this was to end the dominance of countries like China and for India to increase its domestic strength in this region. Besides, its dependence on imports also has to be reduced.
