Cocktail 2 Review: Shahid, Kriti and Rashmika’s romantic comedy created a stir, the ultimate ‘vibe check’ on the fabric of relationships

Knews Desk- Director Homi Adajania’s most awaited film ‘Cocktail 2’ has finally been released in theatres. This is his second part after the superhit film ‘Cocktail’ released in 2012, which has once again tried to bring the complexities of relationships, love and friendship among the youth on the big screen. This time the new star cast of Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna is seen in the film.

The story of the film mainly revolves around the relationship between Kunal (Shahid Kapoor) and Dia (Rashmika Mandanna). Both of them love each other since college time, but with time cracks start appearing in their relationship. While Diya wants to get married and settle down, Kunal wants to stay away from commitments and live his life in a free-flowing manner.

Meanwhile, Ellie (Kriti Sanon) enters the story, who is a bold and independent girl. Her presence completely changes Kunal and Diya’s relationship. After this begins a complex journey of love, friendship, trust and emotions, which reflects the relationship confusion and ‘situationship’ of today’s generation.

The biggest strength of the film is its screenplay, which keeps the audience engaged for the first 50 minutes. The pace of the story is balanced and the emotional scenes have been heightened with time. The beautiful locations of Sicily make the film a visual treat. The director did not show any character as completely right or wrong, which makes the story seem more real.

Talking about direction, Homi Adajania has once again presented the complexities of modern relationships in detail. The editing is crisp and the film doesn’t wander anywhere. The balance of comedy and emotion makes it strong.

In terms of performance, Shahid Kapoor has acted brilliantly and in many scenes he is seen carrying the entire film on his shoulders. Rashmika Mandanna has also played her character with simplicity and strength. But the real life of the film proves to be Kriti Sanon, who dominates every scene with her bubbly and cool character. ‘Cocktail 2’ is a modern romantic drama, which beautifully shows the complexities of relationships of today’s generation and gives an emotional and visual experience to the audience.
