DK Shivakumar strict on misuse of guarantee schemes in Karnataka, action will be taken against fake beneficiaries

DK Shivakumar Guarantee Schemes: A review meeting of the implementation and progress of guarantee schemes of the Karnataka government was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in the committee room of Vidhana Soudha. Presiding over the meeting, Chief Minister Shivakumar made it clear that the government is taking action against misuse of its major guarantee schemes.

He said that no eligible beneficiary should face any kind of difficulty during this period. He stressed that the objective is not only to prevent ineligible beneficiaries and fraudulent claims from receiving benefits, but also to ensure that genuine beneficiaries continue to receive assistance without any interruption.

Big decision in the review meeting of guarantee schemes

During the meeting, Shivakumar informed that many beneficiaries of Griha Laxmi Yojana had taken bank loans. In many cases, the financial assistance credited under the scheme was automatically adjusted against the outstanding loan amount. As a result, many beneficiaries had changed their bank accounts to receive the benefits directly. He directed the officials to ensure that such beneficiaries should not be inconvenienced during the verification process.

The scheme amount was reaching dead accounts

The Chief Minister said that stringent security measures have been taken to prevent misuse during the implementation of the Grih Jyoti Yojana and if similar precautions were taken in other guarantee schemes, the cases of fraud would have reduced significantly. Officials told the meeting that such cases have come to light in which the benefits of Griha Lakshmi Yojana are being deposited in the accounts of even deceased beneficiaries. Shivakumar directed officials to take immediate steps to stop such misuse.

Order to investigate irregularities in UPI transactions

He also suggested that a voice message be sent to the beneficiaries on their mobile phones immediately after the Griha Lakshmi Yojana amount is credited to their accounts, so that they can confirm the receipt of the benefit. Officials drew the attention of the meeting to the fact that some Airtel Payments Bank accounts operated by Airtel SIM users were allegedly being misused through UPI linked transactions. The Chief Minister directed officials to investigate the matter and take corrective measures.

Action will be taken against fake beneficiaries

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has taken a tough stance regarding possible irregularities and misuse in the ambitious guarantee schemes of the Karnataka government. In the review meeting of the schemes, he gave clear instructions to the officials that immediate action should be taken on the cases of fake beneficiaries and fraud, but the genuine eligible people should not face any kind of problem.
