NTA rolls out multi-layered security framework ahead of NEET (UG) re-examination on June 21

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has put in place a multi-layered security framework for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled to be held on June 21, aiming to ensure a fair, transparent and secure examination process. Authorities have introduced enhanced monitoring and logistical safeguards following the cancellation of the earlier examination.

According to the NTA, confidential examination materials are being handled under sealed protocols with end-to-end security measures. The transportation of question papers and other sensitive materials is being monitored through GPS-enabled vehicles, while police escorts and central security forces have been deployed at various stages of the distribution chain.

Enhanced security arrangements

The strengthened security architecture includes secure handling of examination materials from designated origin hubs to examination centres across the country. Authorities have also implemented multiple layers of monitoring to safeguard question papers and OMR answer sheets during transit and storage.

Reports indicate that GPS-based tracking systems are being used to monitor the movement of examination materials in real time. Security personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have been deployed as part of the enhanced arrangements.

Nationwide preparedness measures

Ahead of the examination, the NTA has scheduled a nationwide mock drill on June 20 to assess the readiness of examination centres and logistical systems. The exercise is intended to identify and address any operational gaps before the re-examination.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also reviewed preparations for the examination during a high-level meeting, with officials focusing on security protocols and candidate welfare measures at examination centres.

Focus on fairness and transparency

The NTA has reiterated that the enhanced security measures are designed to maintain the integrity of the examination process. Candidates have been advised to follow official instructions and rely only on information issued through authorized NTA channels.

The NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination will be conducted on June 21 in pen-and-paper mode at designated centres across the country.
