Bulldozer will run on illegal warehouses in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad Development Authority is preparing to take strict action against illegally operating warehouses. Officials have been instructed to submit certified lists of all warehouses in their respective areas and fix accountability if any warehouse is left out.

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is all set to launch a massive campaign against illegally operating warehouses in the area. The authority is now going to speed up the process of identification, verification and action against such warehouses. The officers will also have to certify that no illegal warehouse has been left out in the list along with detailed reports of their areas.

There will be a comprehensive review of illegal warehouses

A large number of warehouses are operating in Ghaziabad Development Authority area. Many of these warehouses are accused of not following map approval, land use and other regulatory procedures. In view of this, GDA has instructed all the enforcement officers to prepare detailed reports of their respective zones.

Senior officials of the authority will examine these reports in the review meeting. Officials must ensure that information about all warehouses operating in their area is included in the list. Signature of the concerned officer has also been made mandatory on the report so that accountability can be fixed.

More than 500 warehouses are being investigated

According to sources, more than 500 warehouses are operating in the GDA area. Many of these owners have applied for mitigation under the rules. However, the mitigation process is pending in many cases due to non-availability of timely reports related to land ownership and other legal processes.

The authority will now also check which warehouses have got the map approved as per the rules and which warehouses are operating without permission or in violation of the rules. After this process, the scope of action against illegal constructions will become more clear.

Verification of seal and demolition status will be done

The GDA will particularly review the situation of those warehouses against which action has been taken earlier. These include warehouses that have been sealed and have gone through the process of demolition. Officials will have to provide information about the current status of these premises.

For this, geotagged photographs and other evidence have been demanded. The objective is to ensure that illegal activities do not start again in the premises which were sealed. If any violation of rules is found again at any place, then strict action can be taken against it.

Records of legal and illegal warehouses will be prepared

An important objective of the meeting is also to prepare clear data of legal and illegal warehouses. GDA wants to know how many warehouses have got the map duly approved and how many have been issued notices due to violation of rules.

Apart from this, those cases will also be reviewed where warehouse owners have obtained mitigation by depositing fine or removing other deficiencies. The files of such cases will be examined to ensure that the process is completed as per the rules.

signs of strict action

It is clear from the stand of the authority that large scale action can be taken in the coming days against illegal construction and warehouses operated against the rules. After the review meeting, sealing, demolition or other legal steps are likely to be taken on the identified warehouses.

Officials believe that this campaign will not only curb illegal constructions but will also help in conducting industrial and commercial activities as per rules. Besides, in future, effective control can also be established on warehouses operating without permission.
