High Court strict on ‘The Kerala Story 2’!: Legal notice sent to producer for removing ‘Kerala’ from the title

The Kerala Story 2:The film ‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond’ is once again embroiled in legal controversies. The matter has come to light regarding the title of the film and its content. The Kerala High Court has issued a notice to producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah seeking his reply on the demand to remove the word ‘Kerala’ from the name of the film.

In the new petition filed regarding the film, its censor certificate (CBFC Certification) has also been challenged. The petitioner alleges that the title and plot of the film may affect the image of the state.

Kerala High Court sought reply from the manufacturer
According to the report of Live Lock, during the hearing of the case, the court also raised the question that when the film has already been released and a large number of people have seen it, then what is the significance of this petition.

However, the petitioner told the court that the film is now available on digital platforms as well, so its impact still continues. On this basis, the court considered the matter worthy of hearing and sought a reply from the manufacturer.

Controversy started again after OTT release
Several legal challenges were raised after the film’s theatrical release, but some cases were later settled. Now after the film’s release on the OTT platform, the controversy has taken a new turn.

The petitioner claims that after the online release, many posts and discussions related to the film are spreading rapidly on social media, in which the story of the film is being presented as real events.

Serious allegations made in the petition
The new petition has cited various sections of the Indian Judicial Code (BNS) alleging that the film may create disharmony between religious and regional groups.

The petitioner says that some of the content of the film is going to affect social harmony and national unity. It has also been alleged that the film may hurt religious sentiments.

The matter had already reached the court
Even before the release of ‘The Kerala Story 2’, the film has faced legal disputes. However, later after getting relief from the High Court, the film was released in theaters on 27 February.

Earlier, the Central Government and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had also been parties to legal disputes related to the case. Although some appeals have been resolved, new questions raised regarding the film have once again sparked debate.
