Celebrities around the world often lead lavish lifestyles, and expensive cars are an important part of their lives. They frequently update their garages to stay in tune with the latest trends and technology. In recent years, we have also seen many Indian celebrities switch to electric vehicles. Acclaimed actor, filmmaker, and dance icon Prabhu Deva is among the latest to join this trend. He recently took delivery of his brand-new MG M9 electric luxury MPV, or “Presidential Limousine” as MG likes to call it.
Like many other celebrities, Prabhu Deva appears to have taken delivery of the vehicle at his residence rather than visiting the dealership. In the images shared online, he can be seen posing with his brand-new luxury MPV. He has opted for the Concrete Grey shade.
The M9 was MG’s first product in the luxury segment. It is a large electric MPV and is, in fact, longer than both the Kia Carnival and the Toyota Vellfire. The vehicle measures 5,270 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,840 mm in height, while its wheelbase stands at 3,200 mm.
The MG M9 is a boxy-looking three-row MPV that offers a spacious and luxurious cabin. On the exterior, it comes equipped with LED DRLs, projector LED headlamps, a muscular front bumper, a closed-off grille, large wheel arches, chrome accents along the window line, large glass areas, and connected LED tail lamps, among other premium styling elements.
Inside, MG offers a luxurious cabin finished in a Cognac and black dual-tone theme. The interior is further enhanced by brushed aluminium and faux wooden inserts. The light grey roof liner helps create an airy and premium ambience.
The MG M9 is a seven-seater MPV with captain seats for second-row passengers. These seats can be controlled using a touchscreen integrated into the armrest. Through this screen, occupants can operate the power windows, 64-colour ambient lighting, seat heating and ventilation functions, massage functions, and various electrical seat adjustments. The seats can also be fully reclined into a bed-like position, making long-distance journeys more comfortable.
Apart from this, the MPV comes equipped with a 12-speaker JBL sound system, dual rear-seat entertainment screens, a split sunroof, a multifunction steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster, a large touchscreen infotainment system, multiple storage spaces, a wireless phone charger, Level 2 ADAS, memory seats, a 360-degree camera, three-zone climate control, electrically operated sliding doors, and several other premium features.
As mentioned earlier, the MG M9 is a pure electric vehicle. It is powered by a large 90 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed driving range of 548 km on a single charge. The electric motor produces 242 bhp and 350 Nm of torque.
The MG M9 is a luxury MPV and is not sold through regular MG dealerships. Instead, it is exclusively available through MG Select dealerships. The MG M9 is priced at Rs 70.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Prabhu Deva is not the only celebrity who owns an MG M9. Other notable owners include Hema Malini, Krushna Abhishek, Shankar Mahadevan, and KL Rahul.
MG also offers the MG Cyberster, a two-seater electric sports car, in the Indian market. In the coming years, the company is expected to further expand its EV lineup with several new products.
