Team India broke its 22 year old record in ODI, scored 23 runs in the first over.

Desk. The third and last match of the three-match ODI series being played between India and Afghanistan is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In this match, the Afghanistan team, batting first, was limited to a score of 218 runs. After this, when the Indian team came out to chase the target, the innings started with 5 runs and when the over ended, the score of Team India was 23 runs. With this, the Indian team also broke the 22-year-old record of most runs scored in the first over of its innings in an ODI match, in which it had scored a total of 22 runs in the ODI match played against Bangladesh at Colombo in 2004.




  • While Team India had got 5 extra runs even before the first ball of the innings was bowled, Azmatullah Omarzai, who was bowling the first over for Afghanistan, also gave a total of four extra runs including 2 balls. All the balls of this first over were faced by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who got a total of 14 runs from his bat. With this, after the end of the first over, Team India’s score was 23 runs without any loss, which till now has become the highest number of runs in the first over of the Indian team’s innings in the history of ODI cricket. A total of three fours were also seen from the bat of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over.
