Rohit-Yashasvi shine, India clean sweeps Afghanistan!

India made a clean sweep of 3-0 by defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the final match of the ODI series played at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. In this match, Prasidh Krishna took maximum 5 wickets from Team India, after which Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a strong partnership of 170 runs for the first wicket. This is Shubman Gill’s first ODI series win as captain.

The Afghan team, which came to bat after winning the toss in Chennai, was reduced to just 218 runs in 44.2 overs. The visiting team had lost 4 wickets by the score of 36. After this, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi along with Azmatullah Omarzai took charge of the team by adding 105 runs in 114 balls for the fifth wicket.

Omarzai returned to the pavilion after scoring 50 runs in 56 balls with 2 sixes and 5 fours, after which the captain added 57 runs for the sixth wicket with Mohammad Nabi. Nabi was out after adding 21 runs to the team’s account. Afghanistan lost its sixth wicket at the score of 198, after which the entire team was reduced to a score of just 218. Captain Shahidi was the last batsman to be out, scoring 102 runs in 131 balls with 1 six and 13 fours.

For India, Prasidh Krishna took the maximum of 5 wickets for 23 runs in 8.2 overs, while Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey took 1 wicket each.

In response, India won the match in just 28.4 overs. Team India got a great start by the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. There was a partnership of 170 runs in 137 balls between the two players. Rohit was out after scoring 79 runs in 69 balls. His innings included 3 sixes and 9 fours.

From here, Jaiswal made an unbroken partnership of 54 runs in 35 balls with Shreyas Iyer for the second wicket and gave the team an easy victory. Jaiswal scored his second century in his sixth ODI match. In this innings, he faced 86 balls, scoring unbeaten 110 runs with 3 sixes and 14 fours, while Iyer remained unbeaten on 20 runs in 19 balls. Mohammad Nabi took the only wicket for the host team.

India won the only test match against Afghanistan by a margin of innings and 300 runs. After this, Team India won the first match of the ODI series by 7 wickets, while won the second match by 170 runs and captured the series.
