‘Yoga is a necessity for a better future of the world…’, said PM Modi on the 12th International Yoga Day

Tezzbuzz Desk- On the occasion of 12th International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today participated in a grand yoga program organized on the historic Red Road in Kolkata. While practicing yoga with thousands of people, the Prime Minister described yoga as not just a physical exercise but a power that unites humanity.

In his address, the Prime Minister said that today Yoga is no longer limited to personal health, rather it has become an important medium for building a better future for the world. He said that Yoga is a path of human consciousness, energy and balance, which strengthens unity among societies and countries.

The Prime Minister said that being present in West Bengal on the occasion of Yoga Day holds special significance for him. He paid tribute to this land by calling it the birthplace of great saints and yogis like Lord Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda and Maharishi Aurobindo.

He said that Swami Vivekananda took the message of Indian yoga and spirituality to the whole world, while Maharishi Aurobindo presented yoga as a comprehensive philosophy of life. The experience of collective yoga in the land of such great personalities provides a wonderful spiritual experience.

The Prime Minister said that on the occasion of International Yoga Day, encouraging pictures are emerging from every corner of the country. From the heights of the Himalayas to the shores of the Indian Ocean, from the North-Eastern states to the Saurashtra region of Western India, people are participating in yoga programs with great enthusiasm.

He said that Yoga has today brought crores of people of the world together on a common platform and it has become a symbol of global health and peace.

In his address, the Prime Minister mentioned the thoughts of Maharishi Aurobindo and said that every action of life can be a part of yoga. When yoga gets incorporated into a person’s nature, then it gives positive direction not only to the body but also to the mind, thoughts and society.

He said that yoga is not limited to any particular age group or community. It infuses balance, confidence and positive energy into the life of every person.

The Prime Minister said that June 21 is the day of the year when there is the longest duration day in many parts of the earth. Due to International Yoga Day, this date is now also recognized as the world’s largest mass health and wellness celebration.

While wishing the countrymen and the world community on Yoga Day, he called for making yoga a part of daily life. The Prime Minister said that Yoga is not only the ancient heritage of India, but an invaluable gift to the entire humanity.
