According to media reports, Yoga Day is being celebrated in 190 countries today. Apart from India, yoga programs are being organized in many countries including Europe, China, Canada, America, where crores of people were seen doing yoga from 5 in the morning.
The Indian Embassy has organized yoga programs in many countries of the world. While on one hand more than 30 yoga programs were organized in America, on the other hand a special program has also been organized in Lumbini, Nepal. The Indian Embassy in Lumbini, Nepal said that this place is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, which has very special significance. Organizing programs here gives a new identity to Yoga, which is important all over the world.

When did International Yoga Day start?
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had proposed International Yoga Day in the United Nations General Assembly. On 27 September 2014, Narendra Modi had proposed to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21 June. After this, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations accepted this proposal.
After this, International Yoga Day was celebrated for the first time in 2015 in many countries including India. That year, thousands of people, including Narendra Modi, performed yoga at Rajpath in Delhi in India, where about 35,985 people participated.

Special program in West Bengal
This year a special program of International Yoga Day was organized in Kolkata, West Bengal. Where many people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated. Kolkata’s yoga program has been jointly organized by the Ministry of AYUSH and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga.
