Remove fake posts against CJI and Judiciary within 24 hours… Delhi High Court orders Meta, Google and X, know the whole matter
Delhi High Court On Fake Posts Against Judiciary: Delhi High Court has taken a strong stance on fake posts against the country’s Chief Justice i.e. CJI Surya Kant and the judiciary. Delhi High Court has ordered all social media platforms to remove fake and derogatory posts against the CJI and the judiciary within 24 hours. Delhi High Court has directed all big platforms like Meta, Google and X to remove objectionable content within 24 hours. The court also directed the Central Government to immediately remove the fake news being spread on internet portals.
Justice Tejas Karia of Delhi High Court has passed this important order on a special petition filed by the Badminton Association of India. The Badminton Association of India, in its petition, demanded immediate removal of those news reports, social media posts, videos and other digital publications from the internet. In which it was falsely claimed that top judges of the judiciary and law ministers had participated in the badminton championship held in London on June 7, 2026.
While hearing the case, Justice Tejas Karia clearly admitted that this material has been created to defame our judiciary and other important institutions and is prima facie completely false and malicious. The court made it clear that all social media intermediaries including Meta, Google, X should not wait for the court order to take action against any derogatory content (post). After this, the court ordered Meta, Google and X to remove fake and derogatory posts against the CJI and the judiciary within 24 hours.
The court has given a strict warning not only to the companies but also to the general public. According to the court order, now no citizen can upload, share or disseminate this fake content on any social media platform, web-hosting platform, search engine or digital media.
