NTA clarifies Abu Dhabi exam centre allotment to Nagpur candidate ahead of NEET (UG) re-exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday issued a clarification regarding reports that a NEET (UG) 2026 candidate from Nagpur had been allotted an examination centre in Abu Dhabi for the upcoming re-examination scheduled on June 21.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the NTA said the allotment occurred following the reopening of the examination-city correction window after the rescheduling of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination.

NTA explains centre allocation

Addressing concerns surrounding the allotment, the agency stated that the examination-city correction window was reopened to assist candidates after the examination was rescheduled to June 21.

According to the NTA, candidates were provided an opportunity to modify or update their examination city preferences during the correction period. The agency indicated that centre allotments were made based on the choices submitted by candidates through the designated process.

The clarification came after reports emerged that a candidate based in Nagpur had been assigned an examination centre in Abu Dhabi, prompting questions about the allocation process.

Re-examination scheduled for June 21

The NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 21 under enhanced security arrangements across examination centres. Authorities have introduced multiple safeguards, including strengthened logistics, monitoring mechanisms and security protocols aimed at ensuring the integrity of the examination process.

The NTA has also conducted preparedness measures and coordination exercises ahead of the re-test.

Agency urges candidates to verify details

The testing agency advised candidates to carefully review information available on their admit cards and rely only on official communication channels for updates regarding examination centres, reporting instructions and examination guidelines.

Officials reiterated that the correction facility was introduced to help candidates make necessary changes following the revised examination schedule.

Focus on transparent examination process

The clarification is part of the NTA’s ongoing efforts to address concerns raised by candidates and ensure transparency in the conduct of the medical entrance examination.

NEET (UG) remains India’s largest undergraduate medical entrance test, with candidates across the country and select overseas locations appearing for admission to MBBS, BDS and other undergraduate medical courses.

The NTA said it remains committed to facilitating a smooth and fair examination process for all candidates appearing in the June 21 re-examination.
