NEET-UG Re-Exam today, around 22 lakh candidates will take part, NTA made strict security arrangements at the examination centers
Tezzbuzz Desk- The country’s biggest medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2026 is being conducted today amid tight security arrangements across the country. Around 22 lakh candidates are appearing in this examination. After the paper leak controversy last year, this time ensuring transparency and credibility of the examination has become the biggest challenge for the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The exam is being conducted in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. For this, more than 5,440 examination centers have been created across the country. The examination will be conducted in 13 languages including English. A total of more than 95,000 examination rooms have been prepared, in which extensive monitoring arrangements have been made.
This time more than 1.38 lakh CCTV cameras have been installed to make the examination process safe. All cameras will be monitored from control rooms established at national, state and ministry levels. Transportation of examination material will be done through GPS tracking and arrangements for police escort have also been made at sensitive centres.
More than 51,000 jammers have been installed to prevent copying and use of electronic devices. Apart from this, the candidates will be screened through metal detector, frisking and Aadhaar based biometric verification. Face authentication technology is also being used extensively for the first time.
More than 2 lakh personnel have been deployed to conduct the examination. Additional examination personnel, two invigilators, security staff and technical officers will be present at each examination centre. Around 6,700 observers and more than 100 virtual observers will monitor the examination process.
Apart from this, 38,795 frisking staff and 48,448 biometric verification personnel have also been appointed. A Center System Officer (CSO) will be deployed at all the examination centres, who will monitor the technical arrangements.
This time the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also being taken in the security system. AI based analysis of CCTV footage will be done so that any suspicious activity can be identified immediately. Many agencies including police, paramilitary forces, Indian Air Force and Department of Posts are cooperating in making the examination process safe.
Experts believe that it is relatively easy to prevent cheating at examination centres, but the biggest challenge is to prevent incidents like paper leaks before the examination. After the controversies that surfaced last year, this time there is huge pressure on NTA to conduct fair and transparent examination.
Special monitoring arrangements have been made in about 1,500 bank branches to protect confidential examination material. Around 700 collection centers have been set up across the country for the collection and transportation of OMR sheets.
In view of the scorching heat, arrangements for drinking water, ORS, medical aid and ambulance have been made at the examination centres. Shady waiting areas have also been prepared for parents. Wall clock has been installed in each examination room and additional rough work sheets will be provided to the candidates.
NTA has appealed to the candidates and parents to be cautious about the rumors and fake paper leak claims spreading on social media. The agency has said to rely only on official information and avoid any misleading information.
This examination to be held today will not only decide the future of lakhs of students, but will also prove to be a big test of the credibility of NTA and public trust in the examination system.
