IND W vs SA W: Team India could not break Marizanne’s cap, South Africa defeated by 6 wickets in the World Cup
IND W vs SA W: Team India has suffered its first defeat in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. In the 18th match of the group stage, South Africa has defeated Team India by 6 wickets. Batting first, Team India scored 158 runs for 7 wickets. In reply, South Africa achieved the score with 5 balls remaining after losing 4 wickets. Marizanne Cap played the match-winning inning of 81 not out for South Africa.
South Africa had a bad start
South Africa, which set out to chase the target of 159 runs given by Team India, did not have a special start. In the last over of the powerplay i.e. the sixth over, Shri Charani gave 2 blows to South Africa. On the second ball of the over, Shri Charani showed the way to the pavilion to captain Laura Wolvaardt. Laura Wolvaardt scored 20 runs on 21 balls. On its fourth ball, Shri Charani dismissed Annery Derksen. Annerie Derksen couldn’t even open an account. South Africa has scored 25 runs for 2 wickets in the powerplay.
After this Shafali Verma told Team India Tazmin brought huge success as Britts. Tazmin Britts was batting brilliantly, but was out after scoring 40 runs in 36 balls. After this, in the next over, Shri Charani gave the fourth blow to South Africa by dismissing Nadine de Klerk. Nadine de Klerk continued after scoring 5 runs in 7 balls.
Team India’s batting was like this
After winning the toss and batting first, Team India scored 158 runs for 7 wickets. For the Indian team, Shafali Verma scored the highest score of 31 runs in 15 balls. While Deepti Sharma scored 29 runs on 21 balls. Apart from this, captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 24 runs, Smriti Mandhwa scored 17 runs, Richa Ghosh scored 15 runs and Jemimah scored 15 runs. Whereas for South Africa, Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Cap took 2-2 wickets. While Nadine de Klerk, Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba got 1 wicket each.
