12th International Yoga Day: Celebration of Yoga across the country under the leadership of President and Prime Minister, Defense Minister and armies also participated enthusiastically.
New Delhi: The 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm across the country on Sunday. Organized with the special theme of ‘Stay Healthy with Yoga as you age’, this global festival was led by the country’s top leadership President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by leading the main functions in different states. Along with this, Indian Army soldiers, Defense Minister and citizens of different states of the country also practiced yoga with great enthusiasm.

The main ceremony was held at the Garrison Ground in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, where President Draupadi Murmu, dressed in white, led the ceremony by performing various yoga postures on a blue mat. Along with him, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangu Bhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also participated in the yoga practice. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yadav said that it is a privilege to celebrate the 12th Yoga Day with the successful 12 years of leadership of PM Modi. Mass yoga programs were also held in other cities of Madhya Pradesh like Indore (where thousands of people did Bhramari Pranayam), Bhopal, Gwalior and Ujjain.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Yoga Day celebrations and performed yoga in the presence of thousands of people at ‘Red Road’ in Kolkata, West Bengal. Referring to Bhagavad Gita, he underlined the importance of a balanced lifestyle and said that Yoga not only improves individual health but also paves the way for global peace. PM Modi congratulated the people of Kolkata for the ‘Swachhta Se Swagat’ campaign and stressed that our abilities should not diminish with age, rather we should become more flexible and energetic.

Defense Minister’s appeal and indomitable enthusiasm of the armed forces
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the program organized at the ‘Advanced Landing Ground’ of the Indian Air Force in ‘Upper Shillong’. Appealing to make yoga a part of daily life, he said that due to the efforts of PM Modi, this ancient cultural heritage of India has today become a global people’s movement.

Meanwhile, soldiers of the armed forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) deployed in the security of the country also took part in yoga sessions from high altitude mountainous areas to plains and beaches. Around 3,500 army personnel, NCC cadets and school children performed yoga together at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.

The Air Force conducted yoga sessions from the hills of Leh in the north to the beaches of Car Nicobar in the south and from Tawang in the east to Dwarka in the west. At the same time, the soldiers of the Indian Navy also adopted Yoga as their lifestyle with the resolve of ‘calm mind, strong body, campaign ready’, which was also a special day for the Navy as three indigenous warships (like Stealth Frigate- Dunagiri) are to be inducted into the Navy in Kolkata on the same day.

Overall, this year’s Yoga Day was successful in conveying the message that Yoga is not limited to any one day or age group, but is the expression of human consciousness and the basis for building a strong nation.
