Series schedule
The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and England (Ind vs Eng) will be played on July 14 at Edgbaston. So, the second match of the series will be played on July 16. The third match will be played on July 19 at the historic Lord’s ground in London. Before the ODI series, the two teams will play a five-match T20 International series starting July 1, for which the Shreyas Iyer-led squad has already been announced.
Kohli’s performance depends on the fitness test
The BCCI committee has announced the squad for the ODI series against England, but the committee has made it clear that Virat Kohli’s presence in the series is subject to a fitness test. Kohli’s fitness test will be held on June 22 at BCCI’s Center of Excellence here. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 75 runs to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore to victory in the final of IPL 2026 against Gujarat Titans. Virat suffered a hamstring injury during the same match. Due to this injury, Virat had to stay out of the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Kohli IN, Hardik OUT
While Kohli has been included in the squad, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been left out. Hardik had recovered from injury and started training with the BCCI Council of England. As he was not fit to play in ODIs, his participation in this series was considered uncertain. Hardik is not fully recovered from the injury. So after the Afghanistan tour, he has been left out of the squad for the England tour as well. As a result, Nitish Reddy has been given another chance.
Yashasvi has no chance, Bumrah’s comeback
Despite scoring a century in the third ODI against Afghanistan, Yashasvi Jaiswal was not included in the squad. Yashasvi was initially not selected even for the ODI series against Afghanistan. Yashasvi got his chance after Kohli was out of the team due to injury. At the same time, Prince Yadav has to sit out as the team’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah returns to the team. Apart from this, the fast bowlers include Gurnoor, Harshit Rana, Famous Krishna and Arshdeep Singh in the squad.
Rest for Jadeja?
India have fielded five fast bowlers and four spinners in the squad, but once again Ravindra Jadeja has not got a place in the squad. Jadeja didn’t even play in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan earlier and has now been ruled out for the England tour. Spinners include Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar. So, both KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have got a chance as wicket keeper.
