The England team was limited to only 291 runs in its first innings. For England, opener Emilio Gay scored 53 runs and captain Joe Root played an inning of 46 runs. Apart from them, Matt Fisher scored 50 runs, while Ben Duckett scored 36 runs and Harry Brook and James Rave scored 24 runs each. Apart from this, no other batsman could stand against the Kiwi bowlers for long. New Zealand’s fast bowler Matt Henry took 5 wickets, while William Oruk took 2 wickets. Whereas, Kyle Jamieson and Nathan Smith took 1-1 wicket. Due to this, New Zealand took a lead of 100 runs in the first innings itself.

England had got the target of 463
New Zealand scored 362 runs in its second innings. Kiwi batsman Henry Nicholls played an inning of 121 runs. Apart from him, Rachin Ravindra scored 76 runs and Daryl Mitchell scored 68 runs. With this, England got the target of 462 runs in the last innings of the match. While chasing the target, the England team collapsed on the score of just 209. For England, captain Joe Root played an inning of 77 runs, while Harry Brook scored 58 runs. Apart from him, no other batsman could stay at the crease for long.
