FIFA World Cup: Egyptian football team will return to Spokane due to security reasons, request to stay in Seattle rejected

FIFA World Cup 2026 Egypt Football Team Controversy: Egypt has suffered a big setback after its historic victory against New Zealand in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The team has been forced to change its decision to set up camp in Seattle. Local security officials have refused to accept the Egyptian team’s request to stay in this city.

The team will return to Spokane

The Egyptian team will now return to Spokane and prepare for the next match from there. According to the Egyptian Football Association, team manager Ibrahim Hassan reported that officials did not approve the team’s request to stay in Seattle for security reasons. For this reason the entire team will have to return to the city of Spokane.

Ibrahim Hassan explained that the team’s coaching staff had previously planned that the players would go straight from Vancouver to Seattle after the 3–1 win over New Zealand. Its purpose was to save the players from additional travel and to reduce their fatigue before the important group match against Iran on June 27, so that the team could prepare better.

Due to this there was a change in the plan

According to the original schedule, the team was to return to Spokane from Canada and then leave for Seattle on June 25. However, the technical staff had decided to change the plan to reduce the fatigue of the players. Now after the decision of the security agencies, the team will have to follow the old plan.

Egypt’s performance against New Zealand was excellent. Despite trailing 0-1 in the first half, Egypt made a strong comeback in the match and scored three goals in the second half and won the match 3-1. Mustapha Zico, Mohamed Salah and Trezeguet scored for Egypt.
