Lucknow. At least 15 students died in a fire in a three-storey commercial building in Aliganj area of ​​Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. The correspondent present at the spot also saw that at least 11 people were rescued during the rescue operation. They were taken out through the adjacent building.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who reached the spot, took stock of the rescue and relief operations. He said that the death of at least 15 students has been confirmed in this accident. The rescue team had to cut two large holes in the adjacent building to reach the affected building during the fire.

Senior officials including Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna and Lucknow Police Commissioner Amarendra Sengar reached the spot to monitor the rescue operation. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel were also deployed. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath left his visit to Aligarh midway as soon as he got information about the incident and returned to the state capital.

CM Yogi expressed grief

The Chief Minister gave instructions for proper treatment of the injured and also expressed condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this fire. Adityanath also said that the Director General of Police and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) should visit the spot and submit a report of the incident. He said that the culprits will be punished after getting to the bottom of this matter. The Chief Minister also expressed grief over the incident by posting on the social media platform ‘X’.

He wrote, “The loss of lives in the fire accident in Lucknow is extremely sad and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved family. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.

PM also expressed grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over this incident. PM Modi wrote on X- Deeply saddened by the deaths in the fire incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. My condolences to the families of the victims. May the injured people recover as soon as possible. Rescue work is going on and officials are providing all possible help. An assistance of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of the deceased from the relief fund. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.
