Iran News: President Pezeshkian held Israel responsible, said that because of it insecurity increased in the area
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has directly blamed Israel for the increasing tension and insecurity in the Middle East. He said that Israel’s aggressive policies have led to instability in the entire region. This statement has come at a time when the political conflict and security dispute between Tehran and Israel is continuously increasing.
President Pezeshkian has expressed his views on several occasions. During a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron in March 2026, he described the actions of the US and Israeli regimes as the main root of instability in the region. He strongly condemned the attacks on Abu Musa and Khark islands, as well as the massacres taking place in Gaza and Lebanon. He alleged that with the help of America, Israel wants to impose war against Iran.
Statement on regional security and disputes
In April 2026, the President also blamed America and Israel for insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz. He said that this area is a symbol of Iran’s resistance and the responsibility of any kind of instability here lies with external forces. Earlier in January 2026, he had alleged that after the Iran-Israel war in June 2025, America and Israel were inciting rioters inside the country to destabilize Iran.
Issues raised in international forums
In an interview with CNN and Al Jazeera during the UN General Assembly in September 2024, Pezeshkian said that Israel’s killing of people and America’s support is the reason for instability in West Asia. He described the events taking place in Gaza as genocide and questioned the silence of Western countries. He also said that Iran will respond to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh at the right time.
Denial of news of resignation
Recently on 31 May 2026, there were reports that President Pezeshkian had resigned from his post, as the administration has been taken over by IRGC commanders. However, the President’s Office and Tasnim News Agency described these reports as completely false. It was officially clarified that he remains in his post and is serving as the ninth President of Iran from July 2024.
