Major fire in Lucknow’s coaching center, 13 people died; CM Yogi canceled his tour, ordered a high level inquiry
On Monday, a massive fire shocked the entire city in Purnia area located in Aliganj police station area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The fire that broke out in a shop soon reached the coaching center operating above, due to which the students and other people present there got trapped in the building. So far in this tragic accident 13 people died have been confirmed dead, while many others have sustained serious burn injuries.
After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the entire area. To save their lives, many students were forced to jump from the roofs and balconies of the building.
The fire took a huge form within a few minutes
According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread so fast that within no time the entire building was engulfed in smoke and flames. The fire that broke out in the shop reached the coaching center above, due to which the people present there did not even get a chance to come out.
Local people risked their lives to rescue many students and started initial relief operations.
Fire brigade and police conducted rescue operation
As soon as information about the incident was received, many teams of fire brigade, police and administration reached the spot. Firefighters tried to control the fire after hours of hard work and conducted a massive rescue operation to safely rescue people trapped in the building.
The injured were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals, where the condition of many is said to be critical.
Deputy CM, DM and senior officials reached the spot
Considering the seriousness of the accident, the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh PathakLucknow District Magistrate Visakh ji iyerSeveral senior officials including DG Fire reached the spot and supervised the relief and rescue operations.
The District Magistrate directed the officials to complete the relief work expeditiously and provide all possible medical facilities to the injured.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath canceled the tour
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Taking immediate cognizance of the incident, it canceled its scheduled program. He instructed the officials not to be negligent in relief and rescue operations.
Expressing deep condolences to the families of the deceased, the Chief Minister asked to ensure arrangements for proper treatment of the injured. Along with this, instructions have also been given to conduct a detailed investigation into the accident and take strict action against those responsible.
Investigation into the cause of the fire begins
At present the actual cause of the fire has not been known. Initial suspicion is that the fire may have spread due to short circuit or flammable material present in the shop. However, the administration has clarified that the real reasons will be revealed only after a detailed investigation.
Questions raised on security arrangements
After this accident, serious questions have once again been raised regarding fire safety standards in coaching institutes and commercial buildings. According to preliminary information, a large number of students were present in the building and there were no adequate arrangements for safe evacuation during the fire.
The administration has indicated that on the basis of the investigation report, the responsibilities of the building’s security arrangements, fire safety equipment and related departments will also be decided.
This accident once again highlights the need for strict adherence to fire safety standards in urban areas. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations as well as detailed investigation of the entire matter.
