Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has invited applications for Director and CMD level posts in eight major PSUs. This will provide an opportunity to senior SAIL executives to advance in career and reach top leadership positions.
Bokaro: An opportunity has opened up for senior officers of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) to reach new heights in their career. Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has started the recruitment process for Director and Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) level posts in various Central Public Sector Undertakings. This will enable Chief General Managers, Executive Directors and other senior officers of SAIL to stake claim for top management posts.
Vacancies for senior posts in eight major companies
Public Enterprises Selection Board has invited applications for a total of eight important posts in various public undertakings of the country. These include Managing Director, Chairman cum Managing Director and various director level posts.
Eligible officers can apply for these posts within the prescribed time limit. After completion of the application process, selected candidates will be interviewed and final selection will be made on the basis of qualification and experience.
Why this opportunity is important for SAIL officials
SAIL is included among the major Maharatna companies of the country. Many senior officers working here have been waiting for a long time to reach higher management positions. However, the tenure of executives holding top positions in the company is still long, due to which opportunities for promotion within the organization are limited in the near future.
In such a situation, these vacancies released by PESB are considered important for those officers who want to handle the responsibility of Director or CMD level in a public undertaking on the basis of their experience and leadership ability.
Long tenure at top positions in SAIL
At present the tenure of Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda, Chairman and Managing Director of SAIL is till the year 2029. Similarly, many directors-in-charge and senior officers working in various units of the company will also remain on their posts for years to come.
In this situation there is little possibility of immediate vacancies being created at top positions within the organization. This is why opportunities available in external PSUs can become an important medium of career growth for SAIL officers.
Interview will be done in the selection process
For appointment to these posts, candidates will have to first submit application to PESB. After scrutiny of eligible applications, selected candidates will be called for interview.
Final selection will be made on the basis of performance in the interview, administrative experience, leadership ability and expertise in the relevant field. The selected officers will be entrusted with the responsibility of top management in the respective public undertakings.
There are vacancies in these companies
According to the notification issued by PESB, recruitment will be done for the posts of Managing Director in Odisha Minerals Development Company Limited, Chairman cum Managing Director in Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, Director (Commercial) in MIAL Limited, Director (Finance and Accounts) in ONGC Limited, Director (Operations) in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Managing Director in NTPC Green Energy Limited, Director (Personnel) in MMTC Limited and Director (Marketing) in Cotton Corporation of India.
The last dates of application for these posts have been fixed between June 25 to July 8, 2026.
New career option for senior officers
Experts believe that this is an important opportunity for officers with experience at leadership level in public sector companies. This will not only give them an opportunity to work in higher positions but will also provide them an opportunity to utilize their experience and management skills in PSUs of various sectors.
This recruitment process of PESB is being considered an important step towards promoting officers with leadership potential in public sector undertakings and providing experienced management to the institutions.
